Barawa, a team from Africa, are new to the international scene. They played their first game against us last year in 2016 and have been working hard to improve their squad.
Barawa manager Abdikarim Farah: “The game against Tamil Eelam last year was an eye opener to see the standards of one the better teams in CONIFA! It enabled us to grow into the game knowing the strengths of the Tamil Eelam team, with which we gained a valuable experience. For the up and coming game we will adapt quicker knowing the strengths of Tamil Eelam and we should give them a better game. The result will not deter us too much, being competitive will be our primary target. It is always a pleasure to keep gaining experience and making lifelong friends whilst spreading our culture and heritage. We are eager to play and keep developing.”
Tamil Eelam manager Ragesh Nambiar: “For Tamil Eelam, this fixture gives an opportunity for new players to claim a place in the 18 man squad for the CONIFA World Champsionship. TEFA has been at work on building a winning team while simultaneously integrating young players into the squad. The last two years has seen a steady improvement in performance. With players from all over all Europe and Canada showing a strong interest to get into the squad, the next few years promises to be exciting.”
